Home Prices Tumbling
Posted: July 27, 2010
I recently had a chance to discuss property values and sale of real estate in Clark County with Rowena Lusby with Windemere Stellar Group and she forwarded me a link to an article of interest. Rowena said,” This is an excellent summary of what is taking place in our current housing market. Our listings are up over 3300, in our local RMLS, and our pending ratios are down to 22%. During the first time homebuyer credit we had a pending ratio as high as 31%. Things are looking up for buyers.”

Hollywood Divorces
Posted: July 6, 2010
Sometimes clients believe that if you have enough money, you can hire an aggressive attorney who will win on every issue. Part of this belief comes from Hollywood movies, television and media stories about Hollywood divorces. However, to put some perspective on this belief, go to the July issue of Vogue magazine for an insightful interview with the family law attorney who represented Brittney Spears, Angelina Joie, Mel Gibson’s wife, Spike Jonze and others. The interview with Laura Wasser suggests that her approach and style is not what you might imagine.

The State of Washington has been at the national forefront on the issue of the rights of non parents to have custody or visitation with children.
Two cases from the State of Washington went to the United States Supreme Court on this issue and there have been many subsequent cases decided by our state trial courts, Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court.
Divorced Parents and Post Secondary Child Support Obligation
Posted: May 19, 2010
There is an anomaly in Washington law regarding the requirement to help pay for your child’s post high school education.
If you are married, you have no legal obligation to help pay for your child’s post high school education. However, if you are divorced, the court can require you to do so.
Respect Is The Key
Posted: May 17, 2010
Respect: to show regard or consideration of. I am often asked why do marriages and relationships break down. Is there one thing that can predict the end? I am not a marriage counselor, but I do believe that most of the time the parties do not respect each other.
